Birthday dinner with my family (2 members missing)

I’m rocking my clutch from Spoiled Diva!

I ordered a 16 oz steak:

YUM! I got a little too full off the bread to fully enjoy it, so I took it home!

At the end of the meal, our waitress brought out the desert cart. They gave me a complimentary desert with sparkler candles (it’s crazy that I’d been wanting sparklers this whole time!). They also took a picture of me and  brought it to us inside a birthday card as we were  leaving.

So many to choose from!!


Verdict:

I liked the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the birthday perks were excellent. However, when we walked into the restaurant, they predicted an hour-long wait! Thankfully, it wasn’t nearly that long. It’s clearly a popular place, but it was calm and cozy on the inside. We were a tad overdressed. Most people wore nice jeans and shirts.

It’s a Texas-style restaurant, with Texas-style potions, and a Texas-style price tag. The food was on the expensive side. On the plu-side, the unlimited salad bar was great and had a lot to choose from.

Bottom line: I will probably not have the luxury of visiting this restaurant again, unless there is a very very very special occasion. This place definitely qualifies as “Good Eats” material, as long as you can foot the bill.

Birthday Week: NHH’s Natural You Mixer

Today was Day One of my birthday week. I was invited to this event by my friend Lorraine owner of TatusWelle, West African-inspired apparel and accessories. She was a vendor at the event. She makes the cutest earrings.

I enjoyed the event and experience a serious bout of hair envy. Overall, it was great!

I treated myself to some birthday earrings. I love them! They’re chic and modern.

There were a lot of designs to choose from. If you’re lucky, you may catch her at another event in Houston!

Chicken + Waffles

They don’t seem like they should go together but they just do! I finally tried The Breakfast Klub and boy am I glad I did! I had chicken n’ waffles N’ catfish. Good stuff!

It brought back great memories of when my cousin hosted a chicken n’ waffle brunch at her house. We brought the KFC, she made the waffles with her waffle maker (wedding gift). We had so much fun. So chicken and waffles will always have a place in my heart and stomach.

Swapnista: Houston 2012

I recently joined the group Houston Fashion Bloggers. I found out about the Swapnista online and I was intrigued. I have been hosting Swap Parties for years now. I wanted to see how other people did their swaps. I was also involved in the style challenge. My particular style challenge was to pull of the “peplum” look. Honestly, I didn’t even know what “peplum” was until I googled it. The prize for winning the challenge was a fierce clutch from SpoiledDiva.

There was a tie between me and the lovely Ms. Kendra (who was rocking the color blocking look). The awesome audience helped me win the clutch. Can’t wait to wear it!

After the fashion show, the swap party began. The hosts graciously allowed the bloggers who had been in the fashion show to go first. We were given 5 minutes to select 3 items. I was satisfied with my purchases. I will put up pictures a little later.
