Last night, I used some pipe cleaners to curl my hair. They curled pretty well, but they were a bit too tight. I threw on a hat and this ensemble. I was very comfortable in the Syracuse summer heat.
Today’s choir color was orange. I struggled to find something to wear because I had no orange dress (I need to fix that). I did, however, have orange tights and orange earrings, as well as a tweed jacket that has orange threads in it.
I’ll admit that this outfit was a bit forced, but at least I have orange on! My favorite part of my ensemble, was the side-swept hair. I like the view in the upper left-hand corner the best.
Happy Sunday from the Komo sisters. Enjoy our VEDA video of us singing earlier this week:
Earlier this week, my hair was feeling dry, dusty, and dirty! I had to do something about it. I knew I had to wash and retwist, but I was looking to try a clarifying wash on my hair for the first time.
I researched and found a recipe for an Baking soda & ACV rinse. I followed the step-by-step instructions.
Watch the process here:
The result was a squeaky-clean scalp and refreshed locks. I followed up the rinse with a retwist and some loc knots.
I noticed that my hair is always in curly styles so I never see how long my hair is. A friend took a length check picture for me and I was amazed by how much it’s grown!
The loc knot curls are very similar to the pipe cleaner curl, but a little less work to “install”.
See the video:
The curls held up, even though I only used water and no setting lotion. I love it!

March has been awesome! God has been really showing out this month! I’ve learned a lot and have been growing and putting things into perspective. Speaking of growing, my hair has been growing like a weed. Check out this post tracking my growth this month. Click here to view it.
I just wanted to share some pictures of my hair, since it’s been growing so much (at least by my standards)
Length check:
I’ve never seen my hair grow this much! I have been able to do so much with them. I can’t believe I once thought I’d be restricted with my hair like this.
Today, I had the opportunity to lead worship at Texas Multicultural Women’s Prayer Breakfast. The Emcee, April Tone, was a phenomenal host for the occasion.
First, my outfit of the day (OOTD):
The front of my hair was a lopsided Marley braid-hair bun. The back was my hair in a sloppy french braid. Look, it’s growing!
Here’s the song I sang:
Thought I’d share a secret about myself:
I’m a big goof when it comes to lyrics and order of songs. I’m notorious for making my fingers cheat sheets for the music. Here’s my cheat for one of the songs I did today.
Think you can decode it? Give it a shot in the comment section below:
I took out my twists after a month of having them in. I bet y’all forgot all about my real hair, huh. I was feeling jazzy and decided to wear my red bowtie and blazer with my high-waisted red jeans.
It wasn’t planned but we were bowtie twins!
Hair update:
In the one month that my hair was in twists, it grew a little fuller and longer. I used castor oil on my roots every once in a while. I think it helped. When I retwist later on, today, I’ll be able to tell just how much it grew. Check out the length– past my collarbone!! I’m excited. Glad to have my hair back!
