Jacket Jackpot w/ 3Fifteen

Ever since I moved up to Syracuse, I have been scrambling to get winter gear to keep me from freezing to death up here. Thanks to 3Fifteen’s 50% sale last weekend, I was able to snag three good jackets to add to my collection.

WAYW: First Sign of Cold

The temperature was 58 degrees this morning in Syracuse. It’s September!! And like the Nigerian-Houstonian that I am, I layered like I was deep into of Autumn. Other than my hands, I was warm enough. When I stepped outside, I noticed people wearing short sleeves and shorts. If 58 degrees is considered weather, I’m not prepared for the type of weather that requires jackets and coats.

I’d been wearing a light jacket but after I got out of my 8am class, my jacket was no longer necessary.

I was in training last week for my instructional assistant job this semester. It was laid back attire but, of course, I dressed up a little bit.

As I was thinking about my back-to-school outfits, I realized that I'm probably going to be dressing a little like a teacher during my time as a grad student. Let's face it, must of my closet are remnants from my classroom days. Without even meaning to, I may look like a teacher 88.2% of the time because of my blazer+dress or cardigan+skirt combos. I like it though. It's not my first time at the rodeo so I want people to be able to differentiate me from the undergrads. My wardrobe should help. I'm excited about this first full semester of grad school. I can't wait to learn and grow.

#31WriteNow: Salvation Army Thrift Haul

This was actually my first time shopping at a Salvation Army. I had shopped at Goodwill and other resale shops but, for some reason, not Salvation Army. Luckily, we went on a Wednesday, so many of the items were 50% off.

Before I started shopping, I gave myself a budget and a shopping objective. My budget was $20 and my shopping objective was to find articles of clothing with good prints and patterns.

I bought 8 items and I was a teensy bit under budget. Call me a Happy Thrifter.
