This Spring Break, my sisters and I decided to try out SXSW in Austin. It was fun hanging out with all the hipsters. We saw Kendrick Lamar perform live. My sister and friends went to Solange’s and Trinidad James’s concert. Here are my OOTDs. Enjoy!
I have realized one thing: I need to get a better phone. My sister has a Samsung Galaxy SII and she took some pictures and recorded some great clips at the concerts.

Hey peeps, I do believe I owe y’all some OOTDs! Here we go:
Over the weekend, I was randomly inspired to do a retro-looking updo. It lasted all week!
My students tell me that I dress LOUD, but my style is “live.” Sometimes they get me. Other times, they don’t get it at all. (Like the time they thought my two-tone riding boots were prosthetic legs…Yes you read that correctly. My black and brown boots somehow looked like fake legs). They are, after all, middle school boys. They are excused…for now.

Today is my sister, Dee’s birthday!
There are so many reasons why I love this woman, but here are my top 10:
1. She is beautiful
2. She is kind and giving
3. She’s a great big sister
4. She ages in reverse (look 17 even though she just turned 27)
5. She’s ambidextrous
6. She’s a great writer (check out her blog deekodeetales.com)
7. She not-so-secretly wants to be Korean
8. She hates going shopping but has great style
9. She is a ever-growing woman of God
10. She knows how to laugh at herself

We didn’t plan the lemon grass color. It just happened. Both my pants and Dee’s are from Target. They were on sale for $8! I had to snag them.

The week started with a good hair day
Then I was showered with gifts from my students and coworkers. My mom cooked a delicious Valentines dinner that evening.
I spent my Friday night chaperoning a middle school Valentines dance
Then I went to my students’ track meet and tried on a Snuggie for the first time!
From the looks of it, my students were my valentines this year. I’m thankful for them.
For some reason, I was just a little happier than usual this week. My students were on their Ps and Qs this week. It made my heart smile.
People have been talking about Dave Ramsey’s envelope system, so I thought I’d give it a try. I made a small budget for my three highest areas of spending (clothes, food, and miscellaneous), appropriated cash for each category, and put them in their respective envelopes . Once the cash is gone, I stop spending. It’s crazy how this tangible budget has made me double triple quadruple think all my purchases. It’s making me more disciplined and I like it, as frustrating as it may be at times.
This was my last style before I took out the twists. It was also the first ponytail I’d done with this hair. It was surprisingly heavy.

I took out my twists after a month of having them in. I bet y’all forgot all about my real hair, huh. I was feeling jazzy and decided to wear my red bowtie and blazer with my high-waisted red jeans.
It wasn’t planned but we were bowtie twins!
Hair update:
In the one month that my hair was in twists, it grew a little fuller and longer. I used castor oil on my roots every once in a while. I think it helped. When I retwist later on, today, I’ll be able to tell just how much it grew. Check out the length– past my collarbone!! I’m excited. Glad to have my hair back!
I’ve had this dress in my closet for a couple months and didn’t know where to wear it. I love the way it fit and look. It was thrifted for less than $5. I will definitely wear it again.
