Sunday Best: Floral Print and Bright Tights

Screen shot 2013-04-21 at 5.58.02 PM

Today’s choir color was orange. I struggled to find something to wear because I had no orange dress (I need to fix that). I did, however, have orange tights and orange earrings, as well as a tweed jacket that has orange threads in it.

I’ll admit that this outfit was a bit forced, but at least I have orange on! My favorite part of my ensemble, was the side-swept hair. I like the view in the upper left-hand corner the best.

Happy Sunday from the Komo sisters. Enjoy our VEDA video of us singing earlier this week:

VEDA vlog #14: Cover of “Your Love Never Fails” by Jesus Culture

I heard this song for the first time this week because we were singing it on the praise team at church this morning. Ever since, it’s been on my lips.

Porcelain studio is the bathroom. I’m mixing my own tracks in the bathroom…don’t judge!
Enjoy :)

All About The Color Purple (OOTD)

Today I was able to pull my hair back in a medium height ponytail!! I liked the fullness of the tail. I wore it with side-swept bangs.Screen shot 2013-04-12 at 7.42.34 PM

Screen shot 2013-04-12 at 7.42.49 PMIt was all about the color purple today. A friend told me I was brave for this mono-chromatic outfit. I knew I was taking a risk combining my lilac Oxford blouse with my eggplant tights, but I think it turned out just fine.

Spotted: “3Fifteen”- A Thrift Shop in Syracuse

This may sound crazy, but as I have been preparing to move away from Houston I had already started mourning my thrifting lifestyle. I would miss the unique prints and trendy finds that set me back less than a Happy Meal. From what I had seen from my trip to New York in the summer, clothes in the Big Apple did not run cheap. Fortunately for me and my closet, Syracuse is not quite the Big Apple…more like the Little Orange (get it, because Syracuse’s colors are orange…nevermind). But really, the small town is more budget-friendly and affordable.

So imagine my delight when my new friend Kelly showed me this cute little thrift store called 3FIFTEEN on campus. Click the link for their Non-profit Facebook page.

The store had a boho vibe to it and there was a cute cafe on the inside. Kelly tells me the cookies are to die for. When I saw the face-sized cookie she bought, I made a mental note to go back and try one myself.

I’ve always had a thing for wooden pallet furniture!

The skirt and the polka dot blouse caught my eye. I was only browsing though, so I left the items in the store for the next lucky shopper.

I absolutely love this sign! Philanthropic fashion is one of my passions.

One day I will cut back on thrifting. Looks like that day won’t be coming for another 2 years! Cheers to Thrifting!

Winning at TARGET’s Clearance

#1. Navy LABWORK Peplum Jacket

Screen shot 2013-04-01 at 8.03.28 PM

I enjoy peplum and this blazer is a sophisticated approach to the trend. I would pair this jacket with something bright or with a print or pattern to lighten it up. I’m not entirely sure of the reason for the steep discount, but I saw it wasn’t on sale online. It had a clearance online item sticker, which suggests it may have been an exchange or return from an online purchase. Either way, I’m happy to the discount.

#2. Mossimo Beige & Neon Crossbody Satchel

Originally: $29.99. In-store Clearance: $14.98

God must have been smiling down on me today because this purse was the only one of its kind in the store. I stumbled on it and had to snag it at 50% off. It’s a good size– not big enough to hold a child, but big enough for my necessities. It was just just in the nick of time, because the duct-taped handles on my school tote bag were getting embarrassing. This will be my travel companion this weekend. It seems very versatile.

#3. Dalmatian-print Skirt

dalmationskirt
Originally: $19.99. In-Store Clearance: $5.98

I’ve been looking to add some prints into my wardrobe and this quirky skirt fits the bill. I love the color and the details. At the icing on the cake was that it came with it’s own belt. I’m a sucker for almost anything that comes with a belt included. This particular belt is a versatile cognac brown color. I could easily wear it with other outfits.

Today was definitely a good day for shopping. I think my findings might have been by happenstance. I wouldn’t expect to see these crazy discounts everywhere.

In total, I saved $33.74 + $15 + $14 = $62.74 saved!!

Oh yeaa. Mama likes.
